21 Weeks

I am now 21 weeks pregnant! I am feeling much better, although I still get tired easily (which you can probably see in the picture above). I am feeling the little boy kick several times a day. He is getting so strong!!
Matt and I also went and visited a childcare center on Monday. We are planning on sending our little man to daycare in January 2011, which means he will be about 3 months old. I am a bit apprehensive about sending him to daycare in the first place, and I just can't send him to daycare when he is only 6 weeks. I know many parents do this, but I just can't picture my 6 week old baby going to daycare for 8 hours a day. I was a bit nervous about sending him to a daycare in the first place, but this childcare center seems wonderful and the staff was extremely competent and helpful! The center is the perfect distance from home and work, and they are rated by the Tennessee government as a 3 star facility! This is the highest rating a center can receive! We will probably look at a few more daycares, but this one is definitely on the top of our list.
Matt and I have begun purchasing baby items and planning the baby's room. I found a practically new Graco SnugRide infant car seat and base on craigslist! I am hoping to also get a convertible car seat that the little one can fit in for about 2 years. We can also use this car seat as a second one for Matt's car. I have begun registering at Target, and I will soon register at Babies-R-Us. I know it may be a bit early to registered, but I just can't help myself :) Matt and I are going this weekend to choose paint for the baby's room. My mom has agreed to make the crib bumper, so we don't have to purchase a lot of extra items we don't need. I am so excited...it is going to be so cute!

  2. From a mom who put her son in daycare at 8 weeks (for 3 days a week) rather apprehensively (I think that is a sign of a good mom), daycare can be a good experience too. It was not my first choice, but Erik has learned so much at school (our daycare has a curriculum for each age group). I marvel all the time how much our little boy has learned. Being a loving mom who is mindlfully raising her child is the key whether or not you choose daycare. And, Dr. Simpson's best advise - if mom and dad are thriving and happy than baby will be thriving and happy, too. Don't feel guilty (I know that is like don't breathe), and if you have questions about making daycare a good experience feel free to call or email. I will be happy to give out tips.

  3. Thanks, Michelle, for the advise! I actually feel a whole lot better after hearing that from a mom with little ones! The daycare we are looking at also has a curriculum for each age group, even the infants! I just remember going to daycare when I was younger, and hating it! I think that is one reason I am a bit worried. However, the daycare I went to is NOTHING like this daycare! It was really just a daycare facility...no learning (from what I remember).
Thanks so much for the advise!!!
